Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived Thursday morning in Samarkand to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
The summit will be held on Thursday and Friday, and it is expected to discuss a wide range of international and regional issues, and ways to enhance the organization’s capabilities in the field of ensuring security and stability, strengthening economic ties, developing the transport and communications sector, as well as enhancing the organization’s cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will meet today, Thursday, in the city of Samarkand, for the first time since the start of the Corona epidemic.
The Russian President is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, during which he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov, as well as Iranian and Azerbaijani Presidents, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Earlier, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization said that this summit will be an opportunity for the leaders of the participating countries to discuss major international and regional issues.
She expressed her hope that the summit would enhance the role and position of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the international relations system.
