Temporary Consulate in Doha; Qatar rejected Israel’s demand Temporary Consulate in Doha; Qatar rejected Israel’s demand

Doha: Qatar rejected the Israeli government’s request to allow the opening of a temporary consulate in Doha during the World Cup. Israeli media reported the other day that they have requested the opening of a temporary consulate to provide necessary services to their citizens who will be watching the World Cup. However, local Arab media reported that Qatar rejected Israel’s request.

The Israeli media stated that there was no official discussion with Qatar at the diplomatic or official level regarding this. However, ‘Al Arabi Al Jadeed’ reported that Israel approached through FIFA, the international football federation, and Qatar rejected the proposal.

During the World Cup, citizens of Israel can also reach the World Cup through the routes provided by Qatar for all countries. All match ticket holders have access to Qatar through the Haya Card. Israel has not qualified for the World Cup, which kicks off on November 20. However, many football fans may come to Qatar to enjoy the World Cup matches.

Qatar severed diplomatic ties with Israel following the 2008 Gaza attack. Qatar is also a fierce critic of Israel’s occupation and attacks on Palestine in the international arena.
