Swisscom/SunriseTo be able to skip the pubs in “replay”: it will cost nearly 100 fr. per year

Swisscom and Sunrise in turn pass on to customers an agreement negotiated with advertisers and channels. Some improvements are promised in return.

The first channels concerned are all German-speaking. But the movement is on.

The price is fixed: 6.90 fr. at Swisscom and 7.90 fr. at Sunrise, every month, to keep the privilege of being able to skip advertisements when watching replay TV. The option is optional and can be activated at any time (but can be terminated with one month’s notice). If we give up, there will be three scenarios, as announced by the two operators on Wednesday.

A: If you choose a past program, an ad will precede the start of the show, like on YouTube or on the “20 minutes” site and app, for example. Two: if you try to speed up the running ads of a program, a spot will appear instead. Three: If you hit “pause” during a live stream, a static ad will fill your screen.

RTS should join

The majority of French-speaking people will benefit from a short temporary reprieve. On October 4, the first 19 channels that will subject viewers to this new regime are all German or Swiss German; and private (list on this page). Swisscom announces that “only a few French-speaking and Italian-speaking channels are currently planning to do the same”, without having a date to advance. The SSR (and therefore the RTS) is thinking of being part of it. “Discussions are underway,” confirms his spokesperson to “Tages Anzeiger”.

In return for these new costs, a technical improvement is promised. Thus, when you choose a “replay” program, you will no longer fall at the start of the program’s time slot and then navigate forwards or backwards quickly to find the exact start, but you will fall directly on the first seconds of the broadcast. After an advertisement, therefore, or following subscribing to avoid it.

The popularity of the “replay” annoys advertisers, everyone can easily skip their creations. A branch agreement has been reached. Operators must compensate channels for lost revenue from . Each operator then decides whether and how they want to pass on these additional costs to customers. In May, Salt chose another option. By paying 3.95 fr., you can continue as if nothing had happened. Otherwise, we can only go back 30 hours (instead of 7 days) and we can no longer speed up the programs when the advertisements pass.
