Earlier this year, Square-Enix published Babylon’s Fall: remember, it was a thundering action game developed by PlatinumGames, yet the iconic studio behind Bayonetta. The game is therefore a fiasco assumed by the publisher, who has just announced the end of the service.

Announced quite a while ago, Babylon’s Fall has always made skeptics: this action game yet developed by PlatinumGamesa studio that has proven to us that it is capable of the best with Bayonetta or NieR Automata, promised ultra-juicy co-op action with game-service mechanics.
Only here, the result was not up to the ambitions and what is more, sold full pot, precipitating the title at the bottom of the charts from its launch. To give you an overview of the sinking, last April (one month following the release of the title), there were less than ten players on the servers. A real industrial disaster for Square-Enix, which ultimately prefers to cut off supplies.
Very big fall
Faced with the fait accompli, it is difficult to continue to provide follow-up for a game that must have already cost a certain amount of money, not profitable. Square-Enix has therefore just announced, from Tuesday February 28, 2023 at 8 a.m., the closure of the servers, the maintenance of the game and even… the impossibility of playing it altogether. Even alone. An absolute fiasco, probably painful for those who bought it for 69.99 euros, being persuaded to play it for years.
It is with deep regret that we inform you that we will be ending the service of the game on February 28, 2023.
Therefore, we will also cancel the large-scale updates that we had considered. As for what’s next, Season 2 will continue until Tuesday, November 29, 2022 as scheduled, and the Final Season will begin with scheduled maintenance on the same day.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Square-Enix has faced bitter failures. – we think of the first Final Fantasy film which almost cost the studio the skin, or the title The Quiet Man ranked among the lowest rated games of 2018 – most Babylon’s Fall is now its sad figurehead.
