“We made a mistake and we are correcting it,” said PLQ communications director Jérémy Ghio.
The daily La Presse revealed this morning that a $12 billion error appeared in the calculation of the debt listed in the financial framework of the liberal formation. The party had incorrectly integrated previous debts.
The PLQ, which defines itself as the party of the economy, announced that it will publish a modified financial framework on its website today.
The promises will remain the same and will always amount to $41 billion over five years.
“Everything stays the same, the level of spending stays the same,” Ghio said.
The difference is that the debt will not fall below the level of GDP as the party had planned in its framework, but will remain stable. She assures us that she will not dip into the Generations Fund in order to settle this question.
Dominique Anglade is being prepared for the debate today and will not react to the news.
Guilty of concealment
This morning, Le Journal also revealed that the Liberal candidate in Côte-du-Sud in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Sylvain Lemieux, has a criminal record.
The latter had admitted his guilt to three charges of concealment worth $ 5,000, in 2014-2015.
The PLQ had been informed and nevertheless decided to trust him.
Recently, the Journal revealed that the candidate was at odds with Dominique Anglade, stressing that he wanted a 3e link on Île d’Orléans, like the one presented by Conservative leader Éric Duhaime.
Such a project would undoubtedly make the Quebec tramway useless, he said. The chief had once once more decided to keep Mr. Lemieux in her ranks.
