The American group goes even further by announcing 8 GHz for an overclocked configuration of its Raptor Lake.
End of August, AMD presented its new Ryzen 7000 processors and claimed to far exceed the performance of the 12th generation Intel Core. Intel is now replicating and tease during the Technology Tour of Israel some key elements of its future processors 13th Generation Core.
Insane clock speeds
Intel is firmly determined to show all the performance of its new processors. During the Israeli show, the manufacturer notably highlighted the clock speeds of its top-of-the-range models. 6 GHz on the clock and even up to 8 GHz overclocked. It therefore beats the records of its previous models, but also of the latest Ryzen 7000 capping at a maximum of 5.7 GHz.
Performance would therefore be increased by 15% in single thread and 41% in multithread compared to the 12th generation Alder Lake.
If during the Technology Tour, Intel did not provide additional information, the technical characteristics of future CPUs have leaked and have been published by Igor’s Lab. If this document, labeled as confidential, is true, several improvements would be expected, beyond the frequencies alone. The number of cores would indeed be increased throughout the series. The manufacturer would double them according to these leaks. The document also indicates a significant increase in turbo powers, which would peak at a maximum of 253 W on the Core i9-13900K (compared to 241 W for its predecessor).
An imminent release
The American group should launch its new processors on September 27. They will then be available from October. In total, no less than 14 references are expected, the main ones being the Core i5 13400, i5 13600, i7 13700 and i9 13900, with K, F and KF versions, the last two being more affordable. Indeed, the processors labeled F do not have an integrated graphics card, the KFs meet this same criterion, but can be overclocked, while the Ks, the most high-end, have a GPU and can be overclocked as a bonus.
In this context, the Core i9-13900K will be the most successful and according to rumors, it might be equipped with 24 cores, 32 Threads, for a maximum frequency of 5.8 GHz, as well as a thermal envelope of 125 W. Compared to AMD’s most powerful model, the Ryzen 9 7950X, it would thus include 8 additional cores, an increased clock speed of 0.1 GHz and a lower TDP (170 W on this AMD processor).
As AMD advanced the supremacy of its latest products, the wheel might then turn with the 13th generation Intel Core.
It remains despite everything to validate these rumors and to officially discover in a few days this new series of Intel processors.
