SNCB offers a free ticket and launches a trial subscription at half price

Anyone who, currently or in the last six months, held a normal commuter season ticket or an “unlimited” season ticket with SNCB, can request a free return ticket allowing travel throughout Belgium. . SNCB announced this on Wednesday. The railway company is also launching a promotional campaign in which it is temporarily offering a 50% reduction on a one-month commuter pass. The promotion only applies to those who have not had an active subscription in the last six months (following March 15, 2022).

This is the first time that SNCB has made such a promotion with subscriptions. The railway company hopes that Belgians will (re)discover the train in this way. During the coronavirus crisis, the SNCB lost many passengers and even today there are around 10% fewer people taking the train on weekdays than before the pandemic.

Nominal ticket

For loyal customers who already have a subscription and who therefore cannot benefit from the reduction, SNCB offers a return ticket (a “gift ticket”) valid throughout Belgium. This free ticket is nominative, but it does not necessarily have to be in the subscriber’s name.

The codes to benefit from the trial subscription or the free ticket can be requested via the SNCB website until October 31 and can be activated no later than November 30, 2022.

Another novelty, it will now be possible to buy a new subscription online. Until now, travelers might only renew a subscription via the SNCB website. Now it can also be created there.
