Nur-Sultan, 14 September / WAM / President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, awarded today, Wednesday, His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, the Astana International Prize, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the Central Asia region. For his eminence’s contribution to the field of dialogue between followers of religions and the dissemination of a culture of brotherhood and world peace.
This came during the opening of the Seventh Conference of Religious Leaders “The Role of Religious Leaders in the Spiritual and Social Development of Humanity in the Post-Covid 19 Epidemic”, in the presence of a number of political and religious leaders around the world.
The Kazakh president said: “I am pleased to award His Eminence, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Astana International Prize, for his efforts in interfaith dialogue and promoting a culture of brotherhood and tolerance between different cultures and ethnicities, pointing out that his eminence is the largest and most inspiring Islamic figure in humanitarian issues, and that his eminence’s presence is For Kazakhstan it is important and appreciated for everyone.”
President Kassem Jomart affirmed that the Kazakh people have great respect and appreciation for the Grand Imam, pointing to his great interest in news and tours of his eminence, appreciating the great efforts made by his eminence in the field of peace and interfaith dialogue.
