Airbus A330-900 wore other colors: Seven of Condor’s A330 Neo should go to Asia

The German leisure airline is expecting its first Airbus A330 Neo in the coming months. Some of the jets ordered were originally intended for other owners – and already wore their colors.

It is not yet known when exactly Condor will start with its latest long-haul aircraft. Airline boss spoke Ralf Teckentrup from October, sometimes there was only talk of autumn 2022. The season starts next week. But by the time an Airbus A330 Neo with a striped look takes off for the first time, winter will be just around the corner.

The first Condor A330-900s will fly holiday-seekers from Frankfurt to Cancun, Punta Cana and Seattle, among others. They were originally intended to serve routes in another part of the world. Because the first seven copies are those that were originally intended to go to Asian airlines.

Already in the colors of Garuda

Garuda Indonesia took bankruptcy protection during the pandemic and no longer wants all 13 to go Delivery upcoming Airbus A330 Neo. Air Asia X has 73 copies be removed from the order book. Some of Condor’s Airbus A330-900s, the larger variant of the A330 Neo, already sported the colors of their original customers on the tail unit. Others were even already painted. For example, the specimens with the serial numbers 1958 and 1959, which already bore the design of Garuda Indonesia. They’ve also already completed their maiden flight – in 2020 – and are likely to be among the first to be delivered.

And one in the Condor look

But there is also an Airbus A330 Neo that is already wearing the complete new color scheme from Condor. The machine with the serial number 1972 was painted in April – in view of the Presentation of the new design. To date, the engines have still not been mounted on the aircraft. It’s still waiting for the first flight.

Condor procures a total of 16 Airbus A330 Neo. Nine of the planes are leased, seven are bought. 310 travelers can be accommodated in each of the long-haul aircraft30 in der Business Class, 64 in der Premium Economy Class und 216 in der Economy Class.
