While the percentage of minors buying houses has risen sharply over the past three years, it has been confirmed that one-year-olds have purchased more than 20 houses.

According to the ‘Status of Minors Home Ownership’ submitted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport by Kim Byung-wook, a member of the National Assembly Land Transport Committee, on the 14th, the number of home purchases by minors in 2019 compared to the total number of home purchases in the last three years (2019-2021). It increased from 0.06% to 0.17% in 2021. As of July of this year, the number of cases was 570 (0.18%), increasing every year.

Among the minors who bought houses during this period, only 23 one-year-olds were included. It’s like having a home right following you were born. In particular, it was confirmed that there was a one-year-old infant who bought as many as 20, which is shocking. Among children under the age of 10, 75 children purchased three or more houses.

Rep. Kim Byung-wook said, “It is regrettable that the number of underage housing purchases is increasing every year despite the government’s plans to look into real estate speculation and expedient donations of minors several times.” We need to investigate everything and come up with a solution,” he said.
