[헤럴드경제] The U.S. Department of Labor announced on the 13th (local time) that the consumer price index (CPI) rose 8.3% in August from the same month a year earlier. Growth has slowed for the second month in a row. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the CPI rose 9.1% in June and then fell to 8.5% in July.
However, the increase in CPI last month surpassed the 8.0% forecast by Dow Jones analysts. It exceeded market expectations of a 0.1% increase and 0.1% decline compared to the previous month.
Excluding energy and food, which has high volatility, the core CPI rose 6.3% from the same month of the previous year and 0.6% from the previous month, respectively.
