In an official statement issued by Ultras fan groups in Paris Saint-Germain, Collectif Ultras Paris boycotted travel to Israel to attend their team’s Champions League match on Wednesday night due to the strict restrictions imposed on fans from the Israeli state.
Fans wishing to attend the game deemed these restrictions “excessive” once once more, in a game already difficult to attend for PSG fans.
The Ultras statement was as follows:
On Wednesday 14th September, our club Paris Saint-Germain will travel to Haifa for our second Champions League group stage match once morest Maccabi.
We regret the security freedom conditions set by the State of Israel for travel into the country, and we will always oppose strict restrictions on our freedoms as we travel far away.
Under these circumstances, we feel compelled to boycott this game in the face of these excessive restrictions.”
