Louis Robitaille coached Kirby Dach with the Canadian Under-17 team in 2017-18. The general manager and head coach of the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL believes that the Montreal Canadiens have got their hands on a future second-line center player.
“It’s really going to be his chair, he mentioned Monday on the show” La Poche bleue le midi “. He’s a big guy. He has speed and good hands; he’s a guy who will bring the offensive. He plays extremely well without the puck. Above all, he is a leader.”
According to Robitaille, Dach has the qualities to raise his level of play on the biggest stage.
“He’s a guy who is extremely proud, explained the hockey man. An outstanding competitor. He had decided to go play with Canada last year [au Championnat mondial junior] and he had been injured in an exhibition game, but he wanted to be there. This is the kind of player you want. […] The bigger the “stage”, the better it will be.”
