  • Russian politicians recently criticized their own war strategy on state television.

  • Former MP Boris Nadezhdin calls for peace talks as Russia cannot possibly win the war.

  • A snippet of the show went viral on Twitter.

In a live broadcast on Russian state television, surprisingly critical words were spoken regarding Putin’s war in Ukraine. “Winning the war in Ukraine with the resources that Russia is currently waging war with is absolutely impossible,” former Duma deputy Boris Nadezhdin said recently during a live broadcast on Russian state television.

The former MP added: “One should have peace talks and then deal with other political matters.” Sergey Mironov, another MP, responded: «There can be no negotiations. Zelensky’s Nazi regime must be destroyed.”

Nadezhdin also criticizes Russian President Vladimir Putin’s advisers: “The people who convinced President Putin that the special operation would be fast and effective, that we would not attack the civilian population … these people really tricked us all,” he continued.

A six-minute video clip from the show is currently the subject of lively discussion on Twitter. Among other things, many are surprised that the word “war” is mentioned so often during the show. The word is strictly forbidden in Russia by order of Kremlin boss Putin. The Russian population was asked to speak of “special operations” instead. The clip has been viewed over four million times on Twitter so far.
