Baby dies after falling from a balcony: medical officer for the brother’s admission

The 11-year-old is suspected of having something to do with his nine-month-old brother’s fall. So far, however, he has not been able to comment on what happened.

A nine-month-old baby was found on a meadow in Vienna-Donaustadt on Friday evening following falling from a balcony. His eleven-year-old brother is suspected of being connected to the deadly fall from the balcony. He was examined by a medical officer on Sunday. The baby succumbed to his injuries.

The doctor “certified that the requirements for admission to a psychiatric ward were met,” police said. No further investigations were made by the authorities. The eleven-year-old suffers from a neurological disease.

Baby fell from fifth floor balcony

The boy might so far no statements regarding what happened on Friday evening make. According to current knowledge, the mother was in the kitchen of her apartment at the time of the accident, while her two sons were in the living room. When the 33-year-old woman re-entered the room, she found only her eleven-year-old son there. The nine-month-old baby was found on the lawn below the balcony on the fifth floor of a residential building. Despite an immediate rescue chain, the baby died in the hospital.

All final findings were sent to the Vienna public prosecutor’s office, the police emphasized on Monday. The boy is under 14 years of age and is therefore not responsible for criminal offenses.
