After Queen Elizabeth II passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Thursday (September 8), the bid farewell to the Queen and the new monarch have begun.

On the morning of Sunday (September 11), the Queen’s coffin left Balmoral Castle and arrived in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, following passing through several small villages she was familiar with before her death. The coffin will be flown back to London following staying in Edinburgh for 24 hours for the public to pay their respects. Britain’s grand state funeral for the Queen will take place on September 19.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, ceremonies announcing the succession of the new King Charles III were held.

Ceremonies are held in various places to announce the new king’s ascendance

Meanwhile, announcements were held in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday, following the announcement of King Charles III’s accession to the throne in London.

In Cardiff, the capital of Wales, Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, and Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, gun salutes were fired following the announcement.

In these places, thousands of people take part in ceremonies, chanting “God save the king”.

People pay tribute to the Queen

After the Queen’s death on Thursday, people flocked to London’s Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle to express their condolences.

Before the Queen’s coffin arrived in Edinburgh on Sunday, large crowds had gathered on the avenue where the coffin passed.

While in England, people continued to visit Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
