Today, Sunday, the Ukrainian authorities in the east of the country accused the Russians of bombing strategic infrastructure that caused power cuts in large areas, at a time when Kyiv launched a counter-attack through which it made breakthroughs in Russian lines.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky blamed Moscow for the power outages in eastern Ukraine, accusing the Russians of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure.
“A complete power outage in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, and partial power outages in the Zaporizhia, Dnepropetrovsk and Sumy regions,” he said in a statement posted on social media, adding, “Russia’s goal is to deprive people of light and heating.”
In addition, the Al-Arabiya correspondent reported a complete power outage in Kharkiv and its surroundings, noting that Russia targeted several areas of Kharkiv at the same time.

For his part, the governor announced Kharkiv region (Northeast) that the Russian strikes that targeted “basic infrastructure” caused electricity and water cuts.
His counterpart in the Dnepropetrovsk region (central east) also confirmed that Russian forces “bombed energy facilities” in response to their “defeat on the battlefield.”
“Some towns and villages are without electricity. The Russians have hit the energy infrastructure. They cannot accept defeats on the battlefield,” Valentin Reznichenko said on his Telegram account.

And Ukraine announced earlier today that its forces forced the Russian soldiers to retreat to strategic locations in the east of the country, following Moscow indicated a withdrawal process as a result of the large-scale Kyiv counter-attack.
