Thiruvananthapuram> MP K Muralidharan was denied a platform during Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. Muralidharan was insulted by the Congress leadership during a reception in Nemam constituency where he contested in the last election. Muralidharan expressed his displeasure and returned without attending the event.
It is the respective DCCs who decide who should be on stage. However, according to the instructions of KC Venugopal, they determine the leaders who should sit on the stage. Nemat’s reception was at 6 pm. Those in charge of security stopped Muralidharan when leaders who were relatively junior to him were on the stage. Even though he was informed that he was a member of Parliament, he was not allowed to pass. Muralidharan left the stage with this.
The leadership started trying to persuade Muralidharan who returned home, but he did not give in. Vadakara MP Muralidharan Nemath came to contest following the DCC leadership demanded a strong candidate to defeat the BJP in the last election. Murali thinks that he was treated badly in the same constituency. Murali responded to close sources that those on the stage should come forward to defeat the BJP. Muralidharan has now clarified his position that he will participate in the next few days only because the trip is led by Rahul Gandhi. At the same time, Muralidharan decided to publicly express his resentment over the incident.
