A Zurich reforestation company suspected of fraud

It’s no mystery to anyone, Jonas Schneiter has a green streak. In 2019, the journalist and producer, who presents the show The Fine Speakers on the RTS, therefore spent several thousand francs for… trees. Forty-five teak, a noble and precious species, planted in Mato Grosso, Brazil, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. The company that sold him these trees is called ShareWood, a pun deviated from Sherwood, Robin Hood’s forest, and share, “share” in English. Founded in 2007 in Zurich, the company offers private individuals the opportunity to buy trees that it will maintain during their growth, before selling them at exorbitant prices, around ten years following their planting.
