The flames began in a commercial premises this Sunday morning, for reasons that are trying to be verified. Once the Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified, an investigation was launched to determine how the fire started.
The chief prosecutor Martín Lozada, the prosecutor Silvia Paolini and the deputy prosecutor Facundo D’Apice, were constituted in the place to instruct the carrying out of the proceedings that allow collecting information.
Police officers from all the units belonging to the Third Regional Unit participated in the procedure, Civil Protection personnel coordinated the operation to evacuate the building – people were referred to hotels near the Bariloche Center – and the transfer of people who required medical assistance to different sanatoriums and the Zonal Hospital.
The Fire Departments of Centro, Melipal, Ruca Cura, Campanario and Dina Huapi worked to extinguish the outbreak. Ambulances and medical and health personnel from public and private institutions were responsible for transporting people to medical care centers.
Crews from the Cooperativa de Electricidad Bariloche and Camuzzi worked at the site cutting supplies.
The team of prosecutors, once the place was secured, toured the interior of the building together with Civil Protection and the Río Negro Police, to verify access to the different departments. They also arranged a permanent guard at the entry points to the building, to prevent outsiders from entering the building.
In the next few hours, once the temperature conditions allow it and the firefighters consider the task finished, the corresponding expert reports will be worked on. These will be carried out with an expert specialized in the subject, Criminalistics and the Operative Unit of the Public Ministry.
