Ashraf Baydoun: The priority is to elect a president

MP Ashraf Baydoun stressed that “the priorities today are the election of a president of the republic,” calling on the political forces to “be this entitlement above any other interest and not to search for self-interests or gains at the expense of the nation and the citizen, otherwise the presidential election will not see the light of day.”

I regret that “some forces and political parties still view the issue as gains at the expense of others, and therefore this will not lead to the desired national goal.”

Beydoun’s words came during a speech he delivered at a memorial ceremony in Al-Fasel House in the south, in the presence of deputies, political, religious, military, security and municipal figures, Lebanese and Syrian leaders and parties, and a large crowd of people. There is a vacuum, but if we remain in the vicious circle of searching for immediate and subjective interests and gains at the expense of the nation’s interest, we will inevitably go to the void and to what has ominous consequences.”

He stressed that “President Nabih Berri has always promised us that he is the owner of all-encompassing national initiatives, because any initiative that stems from outside the national context will not constitute an initiative, but rather constitute an interest for a certain party of some political parties,” adding, “The path that we are accustomed to through President Berri’s path is research.” About the national tracks that save Lebanon with all its sects and regions in the constitutional elections, especially the presidential elections in the election of the presidency of the republic.
