The Neuchâtel police said in a press release that this Saturday, September 10, around 4 a.m., a car driven by a 27-year-old resident of Neuchâtel was traveling on the N20 (the highway between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Neuchâtel ), in the direction of Valangin, on the passing lane.
Near Boudevilliers, the front left of the vehicle struck the central safety barrier. After scraping the slide for 12 meters, the car climbed over it, which had the effect of flipping it onto its roof, a position in which it slid a further approximately 130 meters before coming to rest, still on passing lane with the front of the vehicle facing north.
Extrication necessary
Injured, the driver was transported to the Pourtalès hospital in Neuchâtel by means of an ambulance.
The accident required the intervention of firefighters from the Neuchâtel First Aid Detachments to extricate the victim, as well as the Establishment for the viability of motorway infrastructures (the entity that maintains the A5 and N20 national roads ) for road cleaning.
The highway was closed for an hour and a half.
