Grandson Killed Grandmother Grandson Killed Grandson With Cancer; Grandson arrested in grandmother’s death case in Kollam

Kunnikode (Kollam): Grandson arrested for killing cancer-stricken grandmother. Ponnamma (90) died at Tengarakkav Vijaya address in Kokkad. Their daughter’s son Suresh Kumar (Unni- 35) was arrested. The grandson killed his grandmother who was suffering from cancer by hitting her head and suffocating her.

He was arrested by Kunnikode police. Ponnamma was killed at 4 pm on Friday. It was proved to be a murder in the investigation conducted focusing on the grandson, who proceeded to perform the cremation on the pretext of natural death.

Ponnamma and her daughter Sumangala lived in the same house. Sumangala’s son Suresh Kumar, a taxi driver, returned home on Friday evening following fighting and beating up his grandmother. Meanwhile Ponnamma was killed by hitting her head on the bed and suffocating her by strangling her neck.

At the time of the incident, Suresh’s mother Sumangala had gone out to feed the goat. No one else was home. When Sumangala returned, she was informed that her grandmother had died. Sumangala saw Ponnamma lying dead with blood pouring from her mouth and body. He was thought to have died of vomiting blood as he was suffering from cancer. Under the leadership of Suresh, it was decided to conduct the funeral on Saturday at 10:30 am.

When the body was taken out for burial yesterday, the wound on the head and the scar on the neck were noticed and the police was informed. When the police came to investigate, Suresh initially said that his grandmother died due to illness. Seeing the wound on the head led to the suspicion of murder. The police said that Suresh, who was suffering from cancer for a long time, had committed violence once morest Ponnamma and her family in the past while under the influence of alcohol.
