The Peruvian public prosecutor has demonstrated in court that the now former deputy minister committed the crime of incompatible negotiation with two security companies for the awarding of contracts for the Juan Velazco Astete airport and the Acopia Grande radar station in Cuzco .
According to the judicial investigation, the payment to the security companies amounted to more than 1.76 million soles (more than 450,000 euros), an amount which was also split to avoid having to pay taxes.
However, the sentence of six years in prison and six years of disqualification – as well as a financial fine of around 320,000 euros – has been suspended until the appeal lodged by the deputy minister be resolved. Besides Rivera Pérez, senior airport officials were also found guilty, according to RPP.
