A British woman was diagnosed with cancer, doctors told her she would only live for two months, and now she has made a full recovery with a magical experimental drug.

Blood tests and examinations that Eliana Keeling underwent showed that she had a rare type of leukemia, which begins in the white blood cells and reaches the bone marrow, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.

The retired teacher began receiving chemotherapy sessions to no avail, and she had previously not had any symptoms other than the appearance of bruises on the skin.

Keeling had accepted the opportunity to be part of a trial of an unnamed new drug, while taking another drug called azacytidine, an injection for long-term leukemia patients.

After the 65-year-old woman recovered, she was able to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

“When I was told that chemotherapy didn’t work and I only had two months to live, I had no way of accepting it,” Keeling said.

Keeling added, that she refused to believe the news of her approaching death and the lack of chances of her recovery, so she decided to join the clinical trials of new drugs.

The woman in her 60s took this new, unnamed drug with the traditional azacytidine, and had no major side effects from the treatment, until she was told she was fully cured of cancer last New Year.

It is worth noting that the symptoms of leukemia usually include bone and joint pain, fatigue, weight loss, bloating and swelling of the abdomen, pale skin, inability to breathe, frequent infections, as well as bruising and bleeding.

Many factors contribute to leukemia, including smoking, previous chemotherapy, exposure to radiation, being overweight, immune problems, and blood disorders.
