Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the groups most vulnerable to infection with monkeypox virus are pregnant women and children.

He explained in exclusive statements to the “Consulto” website, that it is important to wear masks, pay attention to personal hygiene, cook meat well, and avoid contact with animals, such as rodents, noting that monkeypox is spread by close contact and mainly through skin rashes.

He pointed to the provision of the necessary reagents to examine cases in the central laboratories of the Ministry of Health of the Ministry of Health, saying: “An integrated guideline for the disease was issued and updated in accordance with the developments of the global and regional epidemiological situation and published in all governorates, in addition to training all health affairs directorates on the guideline, and activating the rapid response team. At the central level, activating disease monitoring at all ports of entry and anticipating the arrival of any suspected cases to take the necessary measures for isolation and refer them to the nearest fever hospital.
