Dubai: The Dubai Metro has crossed 13 years of speed. Inaugurated on September 9, 2019 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the metro has become the backbone of public transport in the UAE. In the first half of this year, 36 percent of public transport users in Dubai relied on the Metro. 109 million passengers have boarded the metro so far. Burjuman and Union stations contributed the most passengers. 62 lakh passengers arrived via Burjuman station while 53 lakh passengers traveled via Union. There is no easier and cheaper means of transportation than the Dubai Metro to get from one end of Dubai to the other area of ​​Sharjah without any problem of weather changes or traffic jams.

13 years ago, Sheikh Mohammed inaugurated the 52 km redline with 29 stations between Jebel Ali and Rashidiya. Later, the 23 km long green line started. Metro was extended to more areas as part of the Dubai Expo. The metro had to be stopped for the first time following the lockdown came during the Covid era.
