Ponnani: Children from Ponnani are having a blast in the swimming pools. Raneen Jasir and Hayan Jasir, who made the medal chase possible in the Gulf swimming pools, also marked excellence in the domestic pools. As part of the Onam celebrations, they showed impressive performance in various swimming competitions held in Ponnani Taluk. These are the winners of the junior category in the swimming competition organized by Changaramkulam Chianoor Modern Club.
Raneen and Hayan are regulars at most national swimming championships in the UAE. Medals are guaranteed in all participating events. He has also won a medal in open water swimming. Trained in Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterflies, Breaststroke etc.
They are residents of Dubai and have been practicing swimming since 2018. Raneen is an 8th class student of Gems Group’s HourOn School. Hayan is a fifth grader at Dubai Indian High School. Training is at Westford Sports Service Swimming Academy. The early training was under the coach of the Indian semi-team, Pradeep Kumar. Now continues training under Filipino coach Joseph and Sri Lankan coach Niroshan. Hayan, a fifth grader, is taking swimming more seriously. This talented person trains for three hours every day.
When they came home on vacation, they spent most of their time in the countryside pools. Hayan is also a star in roller skating.
