Max Verstappen, 5 grid demoted with the introduction of the 5th engine / F1 Italian GP[F1-Gate.com]

Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) was confirmed to be demoted 5 grids in the final of the F1 Italian Grand Prix.

Red Bull Racing has introduced a fifth ICE (internal combustion engine) to Max Verstappen’s RB18. This is his second time exceeding his season quota, so it will be his 5-grid penalty instead of 10.

It’s a low-cost way for Max Verstappen, who is now close to winning his second F1 world championship, to introduce another engine to his pool of available components for the rest of the season.

Red Bull Racing’s potential on the straight and the fact that Max Verstappen won the Hungarian and Belgian Grands Prix from 10th and 14th on the grid respectively means he is still the favorite to start the weekend.

Notably, team-mate Sergio Perez has been penalized for at least ten grid demotions, while drivers Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) have changed multiple engine components to allow for rear-grid starts and Become. Carlos Sainz had a 15-grid penalty fixed at the time of FP1, but a further 10-grid parts change and he will be “back of the grid” with Hamilton.

Yuki Tsunoda will also receive a 10 penalty for reaching five reprimands, plus a demotion penalty to the back of the grid due to a component change. Valtteri Bottas, on the other hand, currently has 15 penalties confirmed.
