Formula 1 – Formula 1: minute’s silence for Queen Elizabeth II.

Monza (SID) – The Formula 1 drivers around Sir Lewis Hamilton (Great Britain) commemorated the late Queen Elizabeth II on the sidelines of the Italian Grand Prix. A minute’s silence was held before the first free practice session in Monza on Friday. “Formula 1 mourns the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For more than seven decades she has dedicated her life to public service with dignity and dedication, inspiring so many people around the world,” said Managing Director Stefano Domenicali.

Formula 1 expresses “the royal family and the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth their deepest condolences,” said Domenicali. There are seven teams in Formula 1, which is closely linked to Great Britain, and six of the 20 regular drivers come from the Commonwealth.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her devotion and kind leadership have inspired generations around the world,” said Mercedes driver George Russell.
