Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among men. Although no one wants to be diagnosed with cancer, the good news is that prostate cancer is highly treatable, especially when it’s caught early, and there are ways to help reduce your risk.
Prostate cancer may not cause any signs or symptoms in its early stages. More advanced prostate cancer may cause signs and symptoms such as:
Difficulty urinating
Decreased force in the urethra
blood in urine
blood in semen
– Bone pain
Lose weight without trying
Impotence
Control your weight. Obesity increases the risk of aggressive prostate cancer.
Eat a healthy diet that consists of plenty of fruits and vegetables, and it should be noted that healthy omega-3s found in nuts, seeds and fish have been shown to play a role in preventing prostate cancer.
Reduce oxidative stress, a hallmark of aging. One theory is that the increased incidence of prostate cancer we see with age is caused by oxidative stress on cells. This can be seen as an increased irritation of cells, and can result from a variety of exposures including processed foods, sugary drinks, and occupational/environmental exposures.
