Los headphones with active noise cancellation are a useful way to make some noise disappear unwanted noises, but what if you want to silence unwanted sounds around you? Let’s say you’re on a sensitive phone call or using a series of swear words while you play. Also there is a device for that, though it doesn’t seem as comfortable to wear as headphones.
Depending on how you see itthe “mutalk”from a company called Shiftall (which belongs to Panasonic), looks like a miniature virtual reality headset or a bdsm accessory… but it’s neither.
Unlike virtual reality helmets or headsetswhich are tied to the head and cover the wearer’s eyes, the mutalk is tied to the head but is placed over the user’s mouth. Inside the mutalk is a microphone and Bluetooth hardware that picks up the user’s voice and transmits it wirelessly to other devices, like a smartphone or game console. What sets it apart from other wireless microphones is that the mutalk captures and contains all or at least most of the sounds that come out of the user’s mouth, as it promises to reduce the intensity of high-frequency sounds (voices) by around 30-decibels.
There is no denying that it seems absurd, but if you want have a private phone conversation with someone and you can’t find a private place to hold itmight be of some use. mutalk automatically detects when it is being used and starts transmitting via Bluetooth, so tYour conversation will be silent even as hundreds of eyes they look puzzled.
