Buckingham Palace announced a short while ago that Queen Elizabeth II is under medical supervision in Balmoral following doctors became concerned regarding her health, and the Queen’s close family, including the Prince of Wales, were informed, as the latest announcement escalated concerns regarding the Queen’s health.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall traveled to Balmoral, while Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, was also on his way. The Duchess of Cornwall was due to open a new visitor center for weaving in Galashiel, on the Scottish border, on Friday. She traveled with the Prince of Wales to Balmoral, and her engagement is likely to be cancelled.
A palace spokesman said: “Following further assessment this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned regarding Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and loyal to Balmoral.”
A spokesman for the couple said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will travel to Scotland, and have canceled plans to attend an awards ceremony this evening.
In the same context, Kensington Palace said that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, stayed in Windsor, where Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were on their first full day at their new school.
For her part, the British Prime Minister, who met the Queen yesterday during her formal assumption of office, said that the entire country was “extremely concerned” by the news regarding the Queen.
“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news coming from Buckingham Palace at lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across the UK – are with Her Majesty and her family at this time,” she said.
