The regional health agency (ARS) will carry out mosquito control on four streets on the night of Friday to Saturday September 10 due to the presence of a person suffering from “dengue fever, chikungunya or Zika”.
The city of Arès has just announced on its Facebook site that the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Nouvelle-Aquitaine will carry out a targeted mosquito control operation overnight from Friday to Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. The residents concerned (rue des Morilles, rue des Cèpes, rue des Chanterelles, impasse des Coulemelles) will be contacted door to door and/or letterbox by the ARS services.
This operation was decided because this district of Arès is frequented by a person suffering from “Dengue, Chikungunya or Zika” indicates the ARS. This targeted preventive treatment should make it possible to avoid transmission of the disease, especially during this period of resurgence of the tiger mosquito, since the latter has a radius of action limited to approximately 150 meters.
This treatment consists of spraying insecticide from a vehicle and targeted interventions by portable means in public places or private properties. The ARS specifies that this operation is noisy but that the products used are identical to the household mosquito repellents found in pharmacies or on the market. Such a targeted mosquito control operation had already taken place two years ago in Cazaux.
