Graham Porter arrives at Chelsea training ground to sign contract

[골닷컴] Reporter Kim Hyung-joong = Manager Graham Porter has arrived at Chelsea’s Cobam training ground to sign a contract with Chelsea. He is the successor of manager Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked on the 7th (Korean time).

A day following Chelsea’s sacking of manager Tuchel due to poor performance, a new manager is on the way. He plans to start the season with Brighton manager Porter, who has already emerged as a strong candidate.

On the 8th, British media such as ‘Sky Sports’ and ‘Football Daily’ reported that Porter had arrived at Chelsea’s Cobam training ground. The terms and conditions of the contract were agreed upon and he came to the final signing. Chelsea’s appointment as manager has become a reality.

The 47-year-old Porter, born in 1975, was originally from England and was appointed manager of Brighton in May 2019 following Swansea. Prior to that, he led Östersund in the lower Swedish league, promoted to the first division, and reached the UEFA Europa League. After taking over at Brighton, his performance has improved every season. His first two seasons left the relegation contenders at 15th and 16th, following which they finished ninth last season. This season, they have created a sensation and are in 4th place with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.

He has been asked to replace the manager of a big club in the Premier League every time. Before Tottenham appointed Noonu Santo last year, he also had contact with Porter. However, he announced his stay at Brighton and his move to Tottenham was canceled.
