The new iPhone can call without network and without you

During a presentation of which it has the success, Apple presented its new iPhone, 14th of the name. And as with every model change, there are improvements: the chip gains in power, the battery in charging speed, the camera in performance, etc.

Equipped with iOS 1 operating system6, the new smartphone also benefits from the possibility of showing live information or information from applications on the locked screen.

The two main new features of the device concern the physical safety of users, starting with a collision detection function. According to Apple, the system is able to detect that he is in a vehicle that has suffered a serious accident. It relies for this purpose on the multiple sensors of the smartphone – new accelerometer, barometer (for changes in cabin pressure), GPS (for changes in speed), microphone (for a noise characteristic of an accident) . The data provided by these sensors is analyzed by algorithms trained from millions of hours of real driving and crash data. If these algorithms detect an accident and the user is unable to reach his phone, the latter calls for help himself.

The other “security” feature of the iPhone 14 concerns connectivity, or rather the lack of connectivity. Thus, if the user is in an area without mobile network or Wifi coverage, the smartphone is able to make a call via satellite. In an emergency, the tool asks the user a few questions and tells them where to point their phone to connect to a satellite. The information provided and follow-up messages are then relayed to centers from which Apple employees can call for help on the user’s behalf. However, the new feature is currently only available in the United States and Canada, where the service will be free for two years.
