War in Ukraine: US claims to have proof of deportations of Ukrainians to Russia

US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield told US public radio NPR on Wednesday that the United States had evidence of forcible deportations of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, “including children”, to sometimes remote regions of Russia, since the latter invaded its neighbor on February 24th. These Ukrainians “are interrogated, detained, forcibly deported from Ukraine. Some are sent to the easternmost regions, near the North Korean border,” Thomas-Greenfield said. A tactic “to annihilate any resistance”, according to her.

Faced with the “scale” and the “generalization” of the method, the ambassador demands that the UN and human rights organizations have access to the camps where these uprooted Ukrainians are detained.
