Celebrating 58 years of “Freedom Sounds”; The Skatalites returns to reunite with their Chilean fans at a party where ska, reggae and dub will flood the Teatro Coliseo. An unforgettable presentation that only the forerunners of these styles at a global level know how to give.
Including headlining performances by trombonist Vin Gordon (Jamaica, 1949) and percussionist Larry Mcdonald (Jamaica, 1937), The Skatalites continue to keep alive the legacy of a style that changed the world in the early 1960s, giving rise to the development of artists like Bob Marley, The Clash and The Specials. Hits like Guns of Navarone, Phoenix City and Rock Fort Rock are part of a show that goes through the most interesting moments in the career of one of the longest-running bands on the planet.
La Floripondio will be the group in charge of opening the fires. The band from Villa Alemana and led by Aldo “Macha” Asenjo, has been a constant promoter of Caribbean rhythms, making it clear in the interpretation of covers such as “When I call you” and “Fidel Castro”. After anticipating his most recent production “Hello, with the mutant islands?” in January 2022 and observing 8 months of silence, the authors of “Dime qué pasa” will present a set loaded with reggae and dub where “Y es de día”, “Fiebre Sudamericana Style” and “Bailando como mono” will be the axes of a show that is unlikely to be repeated.
