Goaltender Carey Price’s name will be placed on the Montreal Canadiens’ long-term injured list on Wednesday, general manager Kent Hughes said.

The latter confirmed what several supporters feared during his press conference held to formalize the signing of Kirby Dach’s contract. He quickly raised the subject at the start of his first response to the media, indicating that the organization will thus release the payroll of the $ 10.5 million to be returned to number 31.
Much like he clarified in August, Hughes said he wasn’t too optimistic regarding Price’s career going forward, saying treatments following his knee surgery in July 2021 haven’t proven effective.
“For this reason, we are comfortable with the idea of inserting his name on the list, logically affirmed the DG. As I said before, we will hear more following the mandatory physical tests at the start of training camp. I haven’t met with our doctors, but we think Carey’s knee didn’t respond well.”

Hughes had revealed over the summer that Price had received injections in his knee to speed up his recovery; a maneuver that proved unsuccessful.
The goaltender has played just five games in 2021-22 due to injuries and a stint in the National Hockey League’s Player Assistance Program for a substance abuse problem.
The British Columbian has never had the chance to find his bearings and his form of the beautiful days. He posted a 1-4-1 record, a 3.63 goals- once morest average and a .878 save percentage.
If his dream of lifting the Stanley Cup was potentially extinguished when the Habs lost in the Finals to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2021, Price has won almost every other honor a goaltender can collect.
Olympic champion, the native of Anaheim Lake won the Hart, William M. Jennings, Vézina and Ted Lindsey trophies at the end of the 2014-2015 season.
He also led Canada to a World Junior Hockey Championship title in 2007, moments before winning the Calder Cup with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.
Price saw his perseverance and resilience highlighted last June when he was named the recipient of the Bill-Masterton Trophy.
