There are many amazing patterns in the market. One is that the lowest value stocks often make the highest returns (as a percentage). True, this only lasts for a few days. Let’s give some examples.
Minimum investment
The average price tag in Russian shares is very democratic: just over 2,000 rubles. a piece. If taken adjusted for the size of the lot, it turns out even less. The median size of the minimum investment now is regarding 1000 rubles. Half of the lots are cheaper than this mark, half are more expensive.
More than a hundred shares listed on the Moscow Exchange have a very modest quotation size – within 50 rubles. Several papers cost less than 1 kopeck, but taking into account the full lot, much more is required to purchase them: from 1000 to 4000 rubles.
At the same time, there are shares that can be bought in a full lot for the amount of 100 rubles or even less, including from the first echelon. Thus, at the beginning of the week, Russneft cost less than 90 rubles, and only on Tuesday jumped above 100.
Most Affordable
Most of the shares available for purchase in the amount of 100 rubles are concentrated in the third tier. These are the least liquid securities of the Russian market, which often attracts aggressive speculators to them.
The table below shows eight shares that cost less than 100 rubles to buy. Among the trending ones (discussed in social networks), these are, in particular, Traffic light and IceStimwhich show this month movements up to 180% in a few days.
Such local rises, as a rule, coincide with the general positive on the market, but specifically for these companies, the news background is completely absent. That is, it is in its purest form a game on promotions, whose main advantage is an extremely low price tag.
Is it worth buying
Stocks with a low price on the market play the role of a kind of outlet for investors: while most of the money is invested securely, small papers allow you to have fun. You can’t earn a lot on them, but it’s also impossible to lose: the maximum is the same 100 rubles.
Historically, penny stocks have played a similar role in English-speaking countries. Today, their analogues are American meme-stocks, which, in addition to the famous GameStop, also include more solid features, such as Twitter.
There are no recommendations from analysts for “penny” stocks, and the technical picture in them is often torn and inconsistent. However, as mentioned above, there is nothing stopping you from buying them as part of a make or break strategy.
