Disappeared on August 29, a 67-year-old man is found in hospital

In Montreal, a man who had been missing for more than a week has just been located… in a hospital. If this is a huge relief for the family of Alain Belleau, this story might hide another. The 67-year-old man is in a coma with head trauma.

In an interview with TVA Nouvelles on Tuesday, Alain Belleau’s relatives received a call to inform them that he had been found. A denouement that adds more emotion to the climate.

“It’s a relief, but…a fractured skull? It’s an accident and we know he’s there, he’s in the hospital. Already, that reassures us, explained the sister of Alain Belleau, Carmen..

“At least we’ll be able to remember, and help him, and then support his son in all of this as well.”

Relatives also learned that he was transferred, in the last days, from the Santa-Cabrini Hospital to the Montreal General Hospital to undergo surgery, without the family being notified.

“They knew my brother had no papers. They knew it! We did the hospitals. Listen, I would have gone to the end of the world to find out,” her sister, Carmen, sobbed.

Alain Belleau left his home in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve with his electric bike on the evening of August 29, without a phone, wallet or medication.

His family themselves undertook research, but in vain.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal issued a press release in connection with this disappearance on September 2. Alain Belleau has mental health issues and investigators said they fear for his health and safety, as he might be confused and disoriented.

“If he doesn’t take his medication, there… it’s also for his health that we are very afraid.”
