In Chile, inflation has not given up. In July, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) accumulated increases of 8.5% so far in 2022 and 13.1% to twelve months, its highest record since the beginning of 1994.
The year-on-year inflation in the whole of the OECD it fell one tenth in July due to a slowdown in energy prices, but still stood at an average of 10.2% and increased the number of member countries to fifteen with a double-digit rate.
For the OECD as a whole, the year-on-year increase in energy prices it was 40.7% in June and 35.3% in July.
But the feedingfor its part, accelerated the rise with 14.5% in July following 13.3% in June. According to the agency Chile is among the 10 economies where the increase in prices has been most noticeable.
According to the latest data published by the INE, in July in Chile the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly increase of 1.4%, accumulating increases of 8.5% so far in 2022 and 13.1 % at twelve months, its highest record since early 1994.
Among the divisions with increases in their prices, transportation and food and non-alcoholic beverages stood out.
More OECD background
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which published the data on Tuesday, recalled that in June, 13 of the 37 Member States had inflation above 10%.
The slight decrease in the organization’s average in July contributed, in particular, to the United States, Canada, Greece and Luxembourg, since there the inflation rates fell in one month by at least five tenths. In the case of the United States, the rate fell from 9.1% to 8.5%.
On the contrary, Spain was one of the member countries in which inflation accelerated the most that month, going from 10.2% in June to 10.8% in July, largely due to the rise in energy prices.
The same trend, but less pronounced, was found in the euro zone, with an increase of 8.9% in July compared to 8.6% the previous month.
