Resumption of social dialogue: The law on the right to strike in the sights of the unions

Wednesday, September 14, 2022 will see the long-awaited resumption of social dialogue. A decisive round which will be marked by discussions regarding the law on the right to strike. A law contested by the unions and which the latter are calling for to modify to make the text more flexible and less restrictive for employees. The minister delegate in charge of relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, Mustapha Baïtas, declared that the next stage of social dialogue will be an opportunity to present the results of the commitments made by the government and reassure the social partners.

”The government has completed the first round of this dialogue by honoring all its commitments contained in the agreement signed on April 30 and which relate to the social aspect, including the institutionalization of social dialogue. He is preparing during this month to meet the representatives of the central trade unions to take stock of the commitments made and reassure the trade union and social partners on their good respect,” said Mr. Baïtas.

This meeting will also be an opportunity to discuss many other issues that will be raised by the trade union and social partners, he added, before assuring that “the government is willing to deal with them according to the means available and in accordance to the possibilities offered by law.
