New trend on TikTok: Experts warn once morest “perineum sunning” – Once once more, social media have given birth to a new “trend”: the so-called “perineum sunning” is going viral on the TikTok platform. In English: sunbathing on the dam, i.e. sunbathing with bare genitals and anus, in order to supposedly absorb as much vitamin D as possible for your own health. A “trend” that health experts are now warning of.
At least that’s what the “Unilad” portal reports. But it’s not just regarding vitamins, other far more esoteric consequences are said to be the amplification of a person’s “vibrations” from sun contact with the abdomen. To do this, people lie on their backs and pull their knees towards their shoulders, or go into the “Downward Dog” yoga position, stretch their heads down and at the same time stretch their bare buttocks up.
Community tanning enthusiasts believe that the extra vitamin D and increased “vibrations” from abdominal sunbathing give them more energy, help them sleep and focus. Creativity should also be unleashed in this way. Also Hollywood star Josh Brolin tried the method back in 2019, which (pardon the bad pun) ended up sunburning him. This does not deter others, the hashtag #perineumsunning reaps millions of clicks.
One particularly successful video on TikTok shows a woman raising her butt while looking down at her phone, which is lying on the floor. There she says: “I don’t know if you’ve heard of dam sunning, but that’s when you expose your butt hole to sunlight. 30 seconds is like walking around in the sun all day with all your clothes on. Soak up vitamin D.” But not everyone is convinced of the “trend”:
The medic dr. Dustin Portela made his own video once morest this method, in which he emphasizes: “The claims that are being made do not contain any evidence that they work. You don’t need to tan this really sensitive area. We’ve evolved to walk upright where that area literally doesn’t get any sun, so you don’t want to turn it towards the fireball in the sky to expose it.”
The doctor further explains: “I have removed skin cancer in the areas of the anus, vulva and penis in people. You don’t want cancer in that area, and if you expose it to the sun there’s a good chance you’ll get burns, which increases your risk of skin cancer, and then someone like me has to put a needle in there, start cutting, and do reconstructive surgery and put it all back together… I’m telling you not to sunbathe on the dam, that’s a stupid idea.”
