From 1,000 to 2,000 €, which MacBook to choose?

Two generations of MacBook Air, three families of MacBook Pro… the transition to Apple Silicon processors has not simplified the range of Apple laptops. The available budget makes it possible to skim the list of candidates, but it still includes three ranges of laptops to choose from. We started from a range between 1000 and 2000 € with the task of finding which models are the most interesting at the different levels of this envelope.

Less than €1,000

Let’s start by cheating a bit by starting below €1,000, at €959. This is the price of the entry-level MacBook Air M1 in refurbished version by Apple. It’s not new, but it’s like. The machines are impeccable and the warranty by Apple is the same. Just as we have the right to return it, free of charge, within 14 days if something is not suitable.

A standard selection, but not daily, on the refurb

These 959 € are for the M1 configuration of 2020 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Others, more robust, are sometimes offered with substantial discounts – around 200 €. But the supply is unpredictable and changes almost daily. These MacBook Air M1 with options also seem to be rare. This is the only constraint of refurb, we are dependent on the offer of the moment and fixed configuration.

From €1,000

There we enter the field of the new and we meet once more the first MacBook Air M1 (8/256 GB). It is now necessary to count 1,199 € for this entry level which received an increase of 70 € at the same time as the M2 arrived. Apple has kept this 2020 laptop in its catalog since its successor starts at €300 more expensive!
