96 years ago.. The first Saudi passport was issued in the name of “Prince Faisal” – Saudi News

The fourth day of September of each year marks the anniversary of the issuance of the first Saudi passport, on 27/2/1345 AH corresponding to 9/4/1926.

Today (Sunday) September 4, 2022 marks the 96th anniversary of the issuance of the first passport for the Kingdom of Hejaz and the Sultanate of Najd and its annexes in the name of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz (when he was Emir and Deputy King in Hejaz at the time, and it was issued in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and authorized to travel with it to Egypt, Holland, and England, and France.

The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies revealed that the passport is preserved in the center’s holdings.

According to a photo of the passport published by the Center on its Twitter account, it carried “Al-Faisal’s passport” number 7113, and the phrase “His Highness Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz” was written on it in Arabic and English, and the passport worked in the following kingdoms: The Kingdom of Egypt, England, France, the Netherlands, and the passport holder. The date of expiry of the work recorded on Safar 26 1346 AH corresponding to September 3, 1927. The passport also included the descriptions of King Faisal, the year and place of birth, height, hair color, eye color, skin color, face shape, and his signature.

The Kingdom of Hejaz, Najd and its annexes, was established following the Sultanate of Nejd and its annexes annexed the Kingdom of Hejaz in the 1920s under the leadership of Sultan Najd King Abdulaziz bin Saud, and he was appointed king of the Hejaz in the Great Mosque of Mecca on January 8, 1926.

Then, on January 29, 1927, he declared himself king of Nejd as well, instead of the title of Sultan, following the Treaty of Jeddah between the British government and the Kingdom of Hejaz, Najd and its annexes in 1927, in which the United Kingdom recognized its King Abdulaziz, where the official announcement was made as the king of the Kingdom of Hejaz, Nejd and its annexes, and on 23 September 1932 The kingdom was unified under a new name, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
