Iván Basa appointed Managing Director of Lombard Odier in Spain

José Couret will remain at the service of clients as Senior Banker and Advisor to the banking group.

Iván Basa, Senior Vice President of Lombard Odier’s Madrid office, will become Local Managing Director of the company’s Spanish franchise as of October 1, 2022. He succeeds José Couret, who will remain active within the Group as Senior Banker and Advisor. This appointment underlines Lombard Odier’s strong commitment to continuity and growth in the Spanish market.

Iván Basa joined Lombard Odier in 2018 as Senior Banker and has 17 years of experience serving high net worth clients at major institutions such as Credit Suisse and Barclays Wealth and Investment Management. A law graduate and holder of a master’s degree in business administration from ICADE, Iván has extensive experience in the management of high-value assets and investment banking activities for private clients.

With this internal appointment, the Group guarantees a smooth transition and underlines its desire to perpetuate its unique values ​​and customer-focused approach. Iván will report to Stephen Kamp, Head of Southern Europe & Latin America for Private Clients, and Stephane Herrmann, CEO of Lombard Odier (Europe) SA (“LOESA”).

José Couret joined Lombard Odier in 2008, when the Bank’s Spanish office opened. Throughout his career, he has established himself as a respected leader within the private wealth management industry in Spain. He has more than 40 years of experience in the financial sector and has held important positions in well-known entities in the world of investment and private management, including Société Générale and BNP Wealth Management. As Senior Banker, he will continue to nurture the close relationships built over the years with clients, while also being active as Group Advisor in a new role.

The Madrid team maintains a solid structure and recently appointed two experienced bankers with a recognized history in the sector: Silvia García-Castaño, as Investment Director, and Enrique Sanz, as Head of Tax and Wealth Advisory Services.
