Exclusive translation: Authorities in Pakistan have announced that a £200,000 luxury Bentley that was allegedly stolen in London has been found 5,000 miles away in Pakistan, according to Pakistani police.
The car was recovered by customs enforcement agents following a tip-off came from a “friendly country”, the agency said, with local media indicating that British intelligence had helped.
A video clip shows customs officers having to push the car onto a rescue vehicle as they are said to have been unable to find its keys, according to the Daily Mail.
The limousine-style car was parked in an affluent residential area, where foreign intelligence services helped customs agents find it by providing its unique tracking code.
The officers saw that the car had a Pakistani number plate, but following checking the VIN and chassis number, they found that it matched the identity of the stolen car.
The man in possession of the car admitted he knew it was stolen, according to Pakistan’s GEO TV.
The suspects were able to smuggle the car to Pakistan using documents belonging to a prominent official from Eastern Europe.
The British government summoned this diplomat to investigate the operation that led to the smuggling of the car from London to Karachi.
