As in the previous week, St. Pauli only drew 2-2 once morest Paderborn. The fact that it wasn’t enough in Fürth was also due to Jackson Irvine (29) and Leart Paqarada (27).
Coach Timo Schultz (45) opted for two equal captains before the season. Now both were in the limelight at the back and front, creating wild elements.
The Rollercoaster Captains!
► In Fürth, Irvine wore the bandage. He managed a crossbar header from a corner (30′), but otherwise the Australian didn’t seem very confident. He already received his fourth yellow card and, to make matters worse, he headed the ball into his own goal corner to make it 1:2 (52nd).
Schultz didn’t blame him for his first own goal of his career: “Fuerth was right behind him, he would have scored otherwise. It fits the game that we pretty much put the two cherries in ourselves.” Irvine: “The feeling is similar to last week, feels like two points lost.”
► This was also because Paqarada shot a penalty with force and anger only on the lower edge of the crossbar (69th). Igor Matanovic (19) had previously been knocked to the ground. It was Paqarada’s second consecutive miss.
“I would also give him the third one if he wanted to,” Schultz confides in him. But: “It would do his game good if he left out one or the other flourish. Especially in their own third.”
After all: Paqarada prevented a goal on his own goal line (46th).
