They carried the drug hidden in a “vehicular compartment,” authorities added.
Five men were captured while transporting 51 kilos of cocaine in Táchira state, according to M/G Domingo Hernández Lárez, chief of the operational command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb).
The military elements located the suspects at the moment they were crossing one of the Citizen Service Points (PAC), in the Guarumito area.
Fanb officials carried out the routine inspection and found 51 kilograms of cocaine.
On Twitter, Hernández Lárez added that the drug was hidden in a “vehicular compartment”, so the detainees intended to take the drugs to another region of the national territory.
The head of Ceofanb said that they are still alert to any irregular group, and a possible illegal action related to drug trafficking in the country.
